Position Summary

The Loudoun County Department of Building and Development is looking for qualified candidates for the role of Engineer III. This position encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

- Conducting thorough evaluations of complex land development proposals to ensure adherence to relevant regulations enforced by the Department.
- Acting as the primary contact and overall Project Manager for the processing of individual land development submissions.
- Collaborating directly with internal and external stakeholders, applicants, and property owners to address design-related issues that may hinder application approval.
- Ensuring transparent government operations by meticulously updating project records and databases.
- Delivering excellent customer service by addressing citizen inquiries regarding procedures, regulations, application statuses, and other pertinent information available through the Department.

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, capable of articulating intricate technical concepts in a clear and respectful manner. A solid background in civil engineering is essential, demonstrating adaptability, resourcefulness, and the ability to work effectively within a team. Proficiency in relevant software systems and comfort with virtual communication platforms are also crucial.

This position is eligible for a hiring bonus in accordance with the County's Hiring and Retention Bonus Program.

Compensation will be based on experience.

Required Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited four-year institution, with coursework relevant to the assigned area; a minimum of three (3) years of professional engineering and construction management experience, including direct design and administrative responsibilities; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Requirements

The position mandates a valid driver's license, along with DMV and criminal background checks.
