Job Summary:


The Language Services Supervisor is responsible for overseeing, assessing, and ensuring the quality of oral interpretations, as well as the preparation of written translations between English and Japanese, or other languages as required for Panasonic business leaders.

This position also provides technical guidance and supports staff with language and terminology inquiries.

Additionally, the supervisor is tasked with managing a team of translators to fulfill essential oral and written language requirements for bilingual translation.


Essential Duties:
Lead and manage a team of translators/interpreters.

Establish an effective team structure for translators/interpreters to maximize efficiency.

Facilitate communication between Japanese expatriates and local personnel.

Provide interpretation services for various meetings and telephone conferences.

Translate both technical and non-technical documents, including policies, guidelines, and manuals as needed.

Monitor and evaluate the quality and precision of oral and written outputs from other translators.

Draft and translate emails, reports, and other documents.

Required to translate from Japanese to English and vice versa.

Conduct training for interpreters, translators, and business leaders through workshops and conferences to ensure effective translation services.

Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:


To ensure workplace health and safety, wearing PPE is mandatory for certain roles at Panasonic and may include equipment such as safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, and face masks.

High School Diploma or GED

Preferred:
Bachelor’s Degree

1-3 years of managerial experience

Essential

Qualifications:

Fluency in both Japanese and English, with excellent communication and writing abilities.

Business language proficiency in Japanese and English.

Experience as a translator/interpreter in a business or technical setting, preferably in the manufacturing sector.

Ability to translate efficiently and accurately.

Working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking.

Preferred

Qualifications:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access.

Demonstrated leadership skills.
