Job Description

As a Product Engineer at Ichor Systems, you will be responsible for managing new product introduction and production support engineering for a specific product or group of products. You will interface with design, process, test, reliability, and manufacturing engineering to solve product issues and production problems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Effectively manage, support, and coordinate projects with minimal guidance from management.
  • Lead and take ownership of design and/or project/sub-projects, ensuring accountability for meeting deadlines for relevant design deliverables.
  • Communicate effectively with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Purchasing, Planning, and other cross-functional departments.
  • Lead process improvement teams to increase throughput by reducing process time and increasing yield.
  • Use Lean Six Sigma practices in daily activities and problem-solving situations.
  • Interface directly with R&D/Design engineering in the design of new components and assemblies.
  • Participate in design reviews and engineering analysis in support of New Product Development (NPD) projects.
  • Collaborate and contribute value in design reviews and communicate to teams in engineering and product managers to produce superior solutions.
  • Support new products meet quality specifications and advisement given is in keeping with internal processes, industry best practices, and meets customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Work with R&D engineers to transfer new products to the production line to ensure manufacturability.
  • Setup production line, SPC charts, and yield report for the new production lines.
  • Conceive and develop solutions (equipment and processes) to meet objectives of volume manufacturing.
  • Leverage understanding of various manufacturing processes and other production methods to ensure design solutions are manufacturable.
  • Ensure all objectives regarding aesthetics, functionality, specifications, and manufacturability are met.
  • Recommend design approaches and solutions to technical problems affecting factories/suppliers on routine matters and obtain assistance from peers, other departments, and engineering management on critical issues.
  • Coordinate with various Engineering Departments to resolve assembly, design, and measurement and/or specification issues.
  • Support technical-based processes on projects such as Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (PFMEA) reviews.
  • Investigate new methods of manufacturing or technology to improve current processes, increase capacity, and throughput.
  • Coordinate the installation, debugging, and setup of new fixturing.
  • Collaborate and advise in the installation of new manufacturing equipment and processes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in Business, Project Management, or Engineering.
  • Prefer a candidate with experience across several operational disciplines in a contract manufacturing environment.
  • Candidate will possess extensive experience in a minimum of two skills in the following areas: procurement, planning, production management, master scheduling, factory engineering, logistics, and program management.
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of contract manufacturing environment and Bill of Material management.
  • Proven record of managing and driving continuous process improvement activities. Strong analytical skills, ability to identify root cause for action/resolution.
