Key Responsibilities- Perform MRI Examinations: Conduct a variety of MRI procedures, including brain, body, spine, and extremity scans, ensuring accurate and high-quality images.
- Adjust Scanning Parameters: Select and modify technical factors to enhance images, using techniques such as flare and SAT imaging.
- Identify Gross Pathology: Determine anatomical orientation on all required images and ensure proper film identification.
- Perform Specialized Exams: Effectively perform Diffusion studies, MR Angiograms, reformats, and MIP imaging.
- Use Magnetic Resonance: Adjust parameters to minimize exposure to patients and staff, following established protocols.
- Photograph and Archive Images: Capture and store images, ensuring accurate and efficient documentation.
- Start and Remove IV Lines: Certify to start and remove IV lines for contrast studies, identifying and responding to IV contrast reactions.
- Screen Patients: Conduct comprehensive screening of patients and other individuals before allowing them to enter the MR system room.
- Communicate with Patients and Staff: Explain the danger associated with implants and devices, inform patients of examination procedures, and communicate with radiologists and other staff members.
- Review Examinations: Review each examination for technical accuracy, present completed examinations to radiologists, and communicate pertinent data to patients' caregivers.
- Maintain Patient Logs: Document patient information accurately and efficiently, ensuring the quality of patient care.
- Organize Patient Care: Prioritize patient care, providing critical care first and implementing physicians' orders.
- Perform Computer Skills: Demonstrate proficiency in patient orders, status changes, patient charges, and profiles.
- Experience: Minimum one year of experience as an MRI technologist, or registry eligible ARRT advanced certification in MRI required.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited radiology technology program or MRI Accredited Certificate Program required.
- License, Certification, Registration: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Magnetic Resonance Imaging within 12 months of hire OR American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists Certificate required.
- Additional Requirements: Venipuncture competency check off required within 3 months of hire, ability to stand, push, pull, and lift patients, and proficiency in applicable computer software.
