Psychiatrist: Adult Consultation Liaison Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultation Liaison Psychiatrist to join our team at MedChi, The Maryland State Medical Society. As a Consultation Liaison Psychiatrist, you will play a critical role in providing psychiatric consultation and liaison services to patients in the acute care setting and emergency departments.
Key Responsibilities- Provide thorough and accurate psychiatric assessments on patients requiring psychiatric consultation in the general hospital.
- Conduct direct psychiatric patient care for patients residing in hospitals on Single Bed Certification (SBC) status.
- Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans based on patient assessments, evidence-based medicine, and professional practice guidelines.
- Collaborate with the Consultation Liaison team to provide case management services, including coordination with medical staff, nursing staff, and outside providers.
- Document patient care and treatment plans in a timely, accurate, and concise manner.
- Provide education and training to patients, families, and healthcare staff on psychiatric care and treatment.
- Participate in Performance Improvement activities to promote optimum patient care and outcomes.
- Board certification in Psychiatry or completion of a Consultation Liaison Psychiatry fellowship.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff.
- Knowledge of psychiatric care and treatment, including evidence-based practices and professional guidelines.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex patient data and develop effective treatment plans.
