Join Southeastern Community College as a Healthy Social Behavior Coach and play a vital role in promoting social-emotional health and preventing challenging behaviors in young children. As a key member of our Child Care Resource and Referral program, you will provide technical assistance and professional development to childcare providers across seven counties in North Carolina.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide coaching visits to childcare settings to mentor and assist teachers and directors in promoting healthy social-emotional development.
  • Deliver professional development on social-emotional development and challenging behavior to childcare providers.
  • Update the regional resource list of available social-emotional practitioners, educators, and mental health professionals annually.
  • Provide corrective action training and coaching to childcare center staff on issues related to discipline.
  • Cultivate partnerships with behavioral specialists, consultants, educators, and mental health professionals to support childcare providers and families.
  • Promote awareness of the Healthy Social Behaviors Initiative to childcare providers and intermediary agencies.
  • Work collaboratively with the state Healthy Social Behaviors Initiative Team and across NC's early care and education system to achieve project goals.
Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Child Psychology.
  • EEC Level 11 recommended, with TAE and PDE required within 1 year of hire.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in working with preschool children and their families or programs that serve them.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Childcare teacher or director experience is preferred for this position.
