Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Social Worker - Foster Care Specialist to join our team at Alamance County, NC. As a key member of our Child Welfare team, you will be responsible for coordinating and delivering services to children in foster care, working to achieve timely permanence for each child in our legal custody.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze child and family needs through ongoing assessments and develop, implement, and monitor treatment/service plans for each child.
  • Educate families about the purpose and process of Child and Family team meetings and ensure effective and obtainable case plans are developed.
  • Provide assistance to families in identifying supportive relationships that can aid them throughout the foster care process.
  • Respond to requests from all areas of child welfare, including follow-up home visits, in-home services, and foster care cases.
  • Transport clients safely and responsibly.
  • Prepare investigative reports for the court, case record, and narratives for all contacts made during the investigation and treatment plans.
  • Provide goal-directed services for each child and family, including skills of applied behavioral analysis (ABA) and planning, and use of empathy, true listening, reframing, de-escalation, modeling therapeutic interventions, and negotiation skills.
  • Prepare for and testify as an expert witness in court cases and hearings.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Social Work or related field, or bachelor's degree in Social Work with one year of directly related experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and ability to learn new software and systems.
  • Valid N.C. driver's license and ability to maintain a driving record in accordance with Alamance County policy.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
