Job Title: Career Coach

Wake Technical Community College is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Career Coach to join our team. As a Career Coach, you will play a critical role in supporting the career development and employability skills of our diverse student and alumni populations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead one-on-one and group career counseling sessions to support students' career ideas and trajectory
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the college community, including prospective and enrolled students, and alumni
  • Collaborate with the team to plan and manage department-sponsored events, including workshops, presentations, and staff/faculty professional development training
  • Manage relationships with faculty, staff, and other key stakeholders to develop and implement programming that complements and supplements faculty instruction and students' learning
  • Deliver and execute workshops within courses and as standalone events through various modes, including in-person and online
  • Administer valid and reliable assessment instruments and computerized career guidance information to assess individualized traits, personalities, strengths, abilities, values, and interests
  • Promote, engage, and create a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community with students, faculty, staff, and community, including advocacy of targeted outreach and inclusive programming
  • Manage the operation of satellite Career Services offices, as assigned
  • Track and document services provided, collaborations, and ongoing projects to identify trends, best practices, and continuously improve offerings and align with college mission
  • Continually assess student, faculty, and staff needs, connecting with appropriate resources (internal and external) to aid in successful career development
  • Represent the department and its programs internally and externally, including faculty, department, and division meetings and events
  • Maintain the protection of student records in accordance with FERPA regulations
Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of career development or counseling theory as it relates to working with a diverse population
  • Ability to use multiple media to communicate, especially in the online environment
  • Strong technical proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, as well as web-based presentation and design platforms, and social media
  • Ability to create materials and content for in-person and virtual workshops
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced work environment with strong organizational and prioritization skills to handle multiple tasks and projects
  • Flexibility and reliability to work independently and in remote teams
  • Ability to travel to other campus locations, and work evening and weekend events, as required
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Education, Psychology, or related field
  • One year of experience working in career services, including practicum or internship experiences
  • Experience working in a higher education setting and/or experience working with business, industry, or government in training and development, experiential learning, job placement, or on-the-job training
  • Valid driver's license with approval required by the College's Liability Insurance Carrier
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in counseling, higher education, or related fields
  • Experience working in a higher education setting or industry-related field
