Recreation Sport Instructor Job Summary

UCSF Fitness and Recreation is seeking a Recreation Sport Instructor to join our team. As a Recreation Sport Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality recreational sports programs to our members. This is a part-time position, with a variable schedule of 20% of a full-time equivalent.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver recreational sports programs to members, including instruction and supervision.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans and curriculum for recreational sports programs.
  • Provide excellent customer service to members and respond to their needs in a timely and professional manner.
  • Work collaboratively with other Recreation Sport Instructors and staff to ensure the success of recreational sports programs.
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
Requirements:
  • Certification to instruct or professional experience in the applicable recreational sports program.
  • American Red Cross First Aid and CPR Training Certification (must be obtained within 6 months of hire).
  • Working knowledge of program activity practices and procedures.
  • Verbal and written communication skills in the English language, active listening, critical thinking, multi-tasking, time management skills, and dynamic flexibility in adapting to the needs of clients.
  • Ability to exercise independent sound judgment and employ reasoning skills.
  • Client service-minded, entrepreneurial spirit and creative thinking skills.
  • Basic skills in computer programs relevant to job duties.
  • Knowledge of campus policies and procedures.
  • Ability to successfully pass FBI and DOJ Criminal Check.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One year experience as an instructor for specified recreational sports program.
