Recreation Sport Instructor

UCSF Fitness and Recreation is seeking a Recreation Sport Instructor to join our team. As a Recreation Sport Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality recreational sports programs to our members. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, and to make a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of our community.



Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver recreational sports programs to members, including fitness classes, sports leagues, and special events.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans and curriculum to meet the needs of our members.
  • Provide excellent customer service and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
  • Work collaboratively with other Recreation Sport Instructors and UCSF Fitness and Recreation staff to achieve our mission and goals.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry standards and best practices in recreational sports programming.


Requirements:
  • Certification to instruct or professional experience in the applicable recreational sports program.
  • American Red Cross First Aid and CPR Training Certification (must be obtained within 6 months of hire).
  • Working knowledge of program activity practices and procedures.
  • Verbal and written communication skills in the English language, active listening, critical thinking, multi-tasking, time management skills, and dynamic flexibility in adapting to the needs of clients.
  • Ability to exercise independent sound judgment and employ reasoning skills.
  • Client service minded, entrepreneurial spirit and creative thinking skills.
  • Basic skills in computer programs relevant to job duties.
  • Knowledge of campus policies and procedures.
  • Ability to successfully pass FBI and DOJ Criminal Check.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • One year experience as an instructor for specified recreational sports program.
