Job Title: Lead Driver (Local Route)

Job Overview:

The Lead Driver is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a team of 3-4 drivers to ensure the efficient and timely delivery of products to local customers. This role includes route planning, vehicle maintenance, and coordination with both drivers and operations personnel to meet customer and company requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize and assign daily delivery routes for a team of drivers.
  • Load, transport, and deliver products according to standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct regular driver meetings to review performance and discuss action items.
  • Serve as a communication link between customers and Operations personnel.
  • Oversee vehicle maintenance, ensuring all drivers comply with safety and DOT regulations.
  • Assist with picking, packing, and receiving orders as needed.
  • Ensure all drivers maintain professionalism and follow company standards.
  • Identify opportunities for operational improvements and provide feedback to supervisors.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by Operations Supervisors.

Requirements / Skills:

  • Certified forklift operator.
  • Familiarity with route planning and ability to identify areas for continuous improvement.
  • Proficient in using scan guns and computer systems, including Microsoft OS programs.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to train and guide others.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds using proper techniques.
  • Must pass a drug test and background check.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions.
