Position Overview

As a Process Engineer at Redwood Materials, Inc., you will play a pivotal role in enhancing our initiatives within the Copper Foil sector. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage in diverse projects that contribute to sustainability and innovation.

The chemical engineering division focuses on three core areas that encompass various aspects of chemical and metallurgical processing:

  • Delivering robust technical support while striving for continuous improvement in our operational activities.
  • Developing innovative processes and facilities to tackle immediate challenges in Copper Foil production.
  • Conducting research and development to prepare for future challenges in the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to ensure our processes are safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly.
  • Lead safety assessments related to design modifications.
  • Monitor maintenance issues to guarantee optimal equipment functionality.
  • Analyze process challenges and identify opportunities for enhancements.
  • Evaluate process data to ensure system stability.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to design and implement new processing plants and equipment.
  • Oversee test work and pilot plant design and operations.
  • Contribute to flowsheet conceptualization and development.
  • Provide essential process parameters to the design team.
  • Conduct trade-off evaluations and studies for flowsheet optimization.
  • Review and implement process plant designs.
  • Facilitate commissioning and ramp-up of process plants.
  • Engage in research and development efforts to align with strategic goals.
  • Establish Design of Experiments (DOE) to evaluate new additives.
  • Perform statistical analyses of DOE outcomes.
  • Identify and drive R&D initiatives to meet immediate business needs and anticipate future trends.
  • Connect R&D efforts with the development of commercial-scale equipment and processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ownership and a proven track record of execution.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a relevant engineering role.
  • Experience in large-scale industrial processing.
  • Operational support expertise with a history of resolving complex chemical and metallurgical processing challenges.
  • Experience in plant design and commissioning.
  • Hands-on experience with test work and pilot plant operations.
  • Proficiency in process modeling (HSCSIM, SysCAD, METSIM) and equipment sizing.
  • Experience in conducting trade-off studies and financial evaluations.
  • Ability to solve intricate chemical and metallurgical processing issues.
  • Experience in metallurgical processing is preferred but not essential.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities.
  • A commitment to sustainability and improving the world.

This is a full-time position with compensation commensurate with experience.
