Position Summary
The Senior Field Engineer plays a crucial role in overseeing field operations and ensuring accurate reporting of work activities. This position involves collaboration with superintendents and foremen to execute work in accordance with specifications and project plans. The ideal candidate will effectively liaise with various stakeholders, including craft supervision, clients, vendors, and subcontractors. Travel is a requirement for this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage in the Estimate Turnover Meeting
  • Conduct quantity takeoffs
  • Assist in transforming estimates into controlled budgets and establishing job files
  • Coordinate and review project submittals
  • Participate in daily and weekly safety meetings
  • Manage quantities and perform necessary takeoffs
  • Procure and schedule subcontractors and materials to meet crew requirements
  • Oversee subcontractors and suppliers with support from project staff
  • Contribute to work plan development and monitoring alongside project engineers and foremen
  • Accurately manage quantity and cost reporting, providing updates to superintendents and foremen
  • Assist with pricing for change orders
  • Engage in the project document control process
  • Facilitate documentation between the company and various stakeholders
  • Maintain an accurate set of project drawings and specifications
  • Participate in project close-out activities
  • Finalize cost report quantities for payment applications and project documentation
  • Support the preparation and upkeep of As-Built drawings
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as required

Qualifications
  • Ability to obtain airport security clearance
  • 3-5 years of recent experience in heavy highway, road, and bridge construction (preferably with a heavy civil contractor)
  • Experience with medium to large projects ($10M+)
  • Familiarity with multiple disciplines related to heavy civil projects
  • Experience with Hard Dollar and SAP systems is preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is preferred
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Travel is required
