About the Role:
The Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) is seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Driver Examiner 1. As a Driver Examiner 1, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of Georgia's roads by conducting thorough and accurate driving examinations for motorcycle and commercial licenses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct driving examinations for motorcycle and commercial licenses in accordance with state law and regulations.
- Accompany drivers in vehicles to evaluate their ability to adhere to Georgia's driving laws.
- Operate visual testing equipment to assess driver skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
- Must be eighteen (18) years of age.
- Completion of a high school diploma or GED is required.
- A valid Georgia Class C or equivalent License is required and must be maintained while employed in this position.
- At least one (1) year of Face-to-face Customer Service experience within the last five years.
- At least one (1) year of recent Face-to-face experience with cash transactions including handling cash, daily reconciliation, and processing credit card payments within the last five years.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least three (3) years of Face-to-face Customer Service experience within the last five years.
- At least three (3) years of recent Face-to-face experience with cash transactions including handling cash, daily reconciliation, and processing credit card payments within the last five years.
- Bilingual skill set preferred.
Working Conditions:
Road tests are conducted throughout the year in a variety of weather conditions, including rain, wind, summer heat, and cold winter days. Testing begins in the early morning hours and continues through the early evening hours.
Conditions of Employment:
- A valid Georgia driver's license is required and must be maintained while employed in this position.
- Successful completion of the CCKE (Certified Commercial Knowledge Examiner) Certification, a national certification is required by all employees who issue driver's licenses.
- Employees who conduct CDL (Commercial Driver's License) road tests must successfully complete the CDL Examiner Certification and the CCE (Certified Commercial Examiner) Certification.
