Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  1. Plan Development: Develop roadway and sidewalk plans for various transportation projects, utilizing your expertise in transportation engineering.
  2. Hydrology and Watershed Management: Demonstrate a basic understanding of hydrology and watershed management principles to ensure the effective design of transportation infrastructure.
  3. Phased E&SC Plans and BMP Design: Develop phased E&SC plans and BMP designs efficiently, applying your knowledge of transportation engineering principles.
  4. SEI/GDOT Standards: Apply a firm understanding and consistent application of SEI/GDOT standards to ensure compliance and quality in your work.
  5. Design Procedures and Ordinances: Quickly grasp and apply new design procedures and ordinances to stay up-to-date with industry developments.
  6. Storm and Water Design: Evaluate, create, and modify storm and water designs, including plan and profile development.
  7. Horizontal and Vertical Alignments: Evaluate, create, modify, and optimize horizontal and vertical alignments, superelevation, and geometric design.
  8. Transportation Improvements: Design basic transportation improvements, including widenings, entrances, turn lanes, accel/decel lanes, pedestrian facilities, and other infrastructure enhancements.
  9. Local, State, and County Ordinances: Demonstrate knowledge of local, state, and county ordinances, including ADA requirements.
  10. Surveying Knowledge: Apply basic surveying knowledge to interpret and evaluate the quality of survey data and documentation.
  11. Quantity Takeoffs: Perform accurate quantity takeoffs to ensure project feasibility and budgeting.
  12. Communication and Relationship Building: Develop excellent communication and relationship-building skills to collaborate effectively with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree (BS) in Transportation Engineering or equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of related design experience.
  • Registration: Registered Engineer in Training (EIT) in Georgia preferred within 1 year of employment.
  • Software Proficiency: Working knowledge of MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Driver's License and Social Security Card: Possess a current, valid driver's license and Social Security Card or other documentation for E-Verify.
