Job Description:

As a Medical Laboratory Scientist at Baptist Health, you will be part of a dynamic team responsible for performing testing in chemistry, hematology, blood bank, and microbiology. The Laboratory at Baptist Health Louisville acts as the core laboratory for the Baptist Health system, performing testing for both inpatients and outpatients.

This fast-paced, busy automated Laboratory has the capacity to perform a full range of tests while maintaining a short turnaround time for our patients.

The Microbiology division of the Laboratory is responsible for the identification of bacteria, fungus, and viruses found in a wide variety of specimens. As a Microbiologist, you will be responsible for independently performing, interpreting, and correlating related tests to assist physicians in diagnosis and treatment.

To be successful in this role, you will need a Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences or an Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent. You must also become certified within 6 months of hire. Previous work experience in high complexity testing is preferred.

Job Duties:


Perform testing in chemistry, hematology, blood bank, and microbiology


Identify bacteria, fungus, and viruses found in a wide variety of specimens


Independently perform, interpret, and correlate related tests to assist physicians in diagnosis and treatment


Maintain a clean and organized work environment


Collaborate with other Laboratory staff to ensure efficient and effective testing


Participate in ongoing education and training to stay up-to-date with the latest testing technologies and procedures


Knowledge, experience, education:
Bachelor degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences or an Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent required.
Must become certified within 6 months of hire.
Previous work experience in high complexity testing preferred.
