Job Summary

The Medical Laboratory Scientist position at UofL Health is responsible for performing a wide range of technical procedures analyzing blood and various other body fluids to support physician diagnosis and treatment. This role requires compliance with standards and accrediting bodies including AABB, CAP, CLIA, FDA, and Joint Commission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, test analysis, reporting, and maintaining patient test records.
  • Monitor and operate instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
  • Document corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from established performance specifications.
  • Adhere to quality control policies, document quality control activities, and maintain records of proficiency testing.
  • Participate in safety training sessions and maintain a safe work environment.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science, medical technology, or a related science.
  • Certification as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist by a recognized accrediting agency.
