Job Title: Chief Financial Officer - Strategic Financial Leader

Reports to: College President

Division: Financial Services

Exempt/Non-Exempt Status: EXEMPT

Employment Status: Full-time

Summary:

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will assume a strategic role in the management of the institution's financial matters. The CFO will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all financial-related activities of the institution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Leadership: Provides financial leadership, fostering a collaborative and collegial environment, and consistently supporting the College's strategic financial goals.
  • Budget Planning and Management: Responsible for preparing (rolling up departmental budgets), reporting on, and monitoring the annual budget for the College.
  • Financial Reporting: Responsible for preparing quarterly financial reports for internal and external review.
  • Financial Record-Keeping: Maintains organized documents/records and prepares tax returns and other external reports.
  • Internal Audits: Conducts internal audits to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance; coordinates and prepares documents for annual external audits.
  • Financial Operations: Oversees the College's loan financing and repayment process, maintains financial records for special project accounts, and reviews the College's insurance policies.
  • Contract Management: Reviews, negotiates, signs, and maintains all college contracts with vendors, including food services and housekeeping contractors.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensures compliance with GAAP and federal and state grants in executing, analyzing, verifying, and reporting transactions of a fiscal nature, and reviews and develops risk aversion strategies.
  • Student Financial Services: Oversees the payment plans and collections of student accounts, student billing, third-party billing, and the transfer of funds to student accounts.

Requirements:

A Master of Accounting or MBA degree, from an accredited institution, and a Certified Public Accountant license are required. Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in the area of accounting, including three (3) years of supervisory experience, and five years of experience in higher education accounting, including financial aid operations, are required.

Experience with CAMS, QuickBooks, and ADP or major ERP systems is also required.
