Materials and Process Engineer III

We are seeking a highly skilled Materials and Process Engineer to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing coating, plating, cladding, and welding/joining processes used in the manufacture and repair of liquid rocket engine hardware.
Responsibilities- Develop and qualify processes to ensure design and manufacturing requirements are met
- Work closely with design, analysis, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and supply base to disposition nonconforming hardware
- Identify root causes of nonconforming hardware and implement corrective and preventative actions
- Define and author material and/or process development and qualification plans
- Train and empower production employees in manufacturing and developed repair techniques
- 5+ years directly related welding and joining experience
- Minimum B.S. in Welding Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Material Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- Hands on experience operating and supporting processing equipment
- Proven experience developing and executing test plans for analysis and qualification of special processes
- Experience writing and maintaining materials and process specifications and/or work instructions
- Masters or PhD in Welding Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Material Science/Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Experience in the production, manufacturing, testing, and assembly of rocket hardware
- Experience working with Ni-based alloys, Cu-based alloys, and/or other aerospace materials used in rocket propulsion manufacturing
