Education Requirements:

Professional Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in Bankruptcy and Corporate Restructuring, particularly in representing major chapter 11 debtors, significant financial creditors, and purchasers in 363 transactions.
  • Proven track record in drafting essential documents such as forbearance agreements, restructuring support agreements, chapter 11 petitions, first-day motions, debtor-in-possession financing documents, cash collateral agreements, plans of reorganization, disclosure statements, solicitation materials, investigatory reports, bidding procedures, and asset purchase agreements.

Role Summary:

  • Seeking a qualified candidate to contribute to a dynamic and innovative corporate restructuring practice, focusing on the representation of debtors and major creditors in both judicial and non-judicial restructurings, distressed lending, asset acquisitions, and bankruptcy litigation.
  • The candidate will be part of a highly regarded bankruptcy and corporate restructuring team with six partners based in New York and approximately 40 attorneys across multiple offices.
  • Ideal candidates will possess exceptional academic credentials and a strong employment history with minimal transitions since graduation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advocate for corporate debtors, lenders, financial institutions, creditors, and other entities in a variety of restructuring transactions, including cross-border cases, as well as in bankruptcy-related litigation and specialized representations. Transactions may involve out-of-court restructurings, prepacked and prearranged chapter 11 filings, traditional chapter 11 cases, 363 asset purchases, and other distressed lending activities across diverse industries.
  • Prepare and negotiate critical restructuring documents, including forbearance agreements, restructuring support agreements, chapter 11 petitions, first-day motions, debtor-in-possession financing documents, cash collateral agreements, plans of reorganization, disclosure statements, solicitation materials, investigatory reports, bidding procedures, and asset purchase agreements.
  • Draft litigation documents pertinent to bankruptcy, including complaints, answers, discovery requests, procedural motions, and related filings.
  • Engage in effective communication and correspondence with colleagues, clients, and opposing counsel.
  • Possess the ability to conduct legal research primarily in bankruptcy contexts; utilize library resources and electronic tools; establish and maintain productive working relationships; communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing; organize and prioritize tasks efficiently; and follow written and oral instructions. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat is essential.
