Clinical Support Associate Job Summary
OU Health seeks a dedicated and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant I to join our team at the OU Edmond Multispecialty. In this pivotal role, you will work closely with Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers to deliver exceptional patient care, adhere to state and federal guidelines, and promote a positive patient experience.

This critical position requires strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. As a valued member of our team, you will be responsible for performing various administrative and clinical tasks, including taking vitals, patient history, venipuncture, lab, x-ray, referrals, and patient phone messages as directed by the provider and/or clinical supervisor.

Main Responsibilities and Qualifications
  • Take vitals, patient history, venipuncture, lab, x-ray, referrals, and patient phone messages as directed by the provider and/or clinical supervisor, adhere to National Patient Safety Goals, and contribute to the assessment/re-assessment of patients.
  • Monitor and document patient status, manage large call volumes, and maintain excellent telephone etiquette, organize workflow to meet patient needs in a timely manner.
  • Retrieve and transport medications, instruments, and supplies, moderate exposure to hazardous risks, follow standard precautions, stock exam rooms, take inventory, and order supplies.
  • Make scheduling arrangements with other healthcare professionals and facilities, assist with procedures, maintain sterile field and specimen labeling when necessary, gather/document information about patient condition.
  • Perform cleaning, sterilization, and/or high-level disinfection of scopes, probe, instruments, and equipment according to manufacturer instructions for use, participate in the development of the plan of care, and implement/evaluate appropriate patient care interventions.
  • Reinforce patient education about medications, post-surgical care, special diets, and changes in treatment plans, transmit prescription refills as directed, arrange hospital admissions and patient care services.
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification required upon hire, one of the following certifications required upon hire: Medical Assistant - American Medical Technologists (AMT), Registered Medical Assistant - American Association of Medical Personnel, Registered Medical Assistant - American Allied Health, Certified Medical Assistant - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant - National HealthCareer Association, National Certified Medical Assistant - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant - National Association for Health Professionals.
