Position Overview

This is a part-time role without benefits, exclusively for students enrolled at the University.

The Math Active Learning Lab (MALL) operates under the belief that "math is an active pursuit." The primary function of the MALL tutor is to leverage mathematical expertise and interpersonal abilities to deliver timely assistance to students in courses such as Intermediate Algebra (MATH 98), College Algebra (MATH 103), Precalculus (MATH 107), and Mathematics in Society (MATH 110), while fostering an environment that promotes active engagement in the learning process.

Returning tutors receive an annual increase of $0.25/hour for each year they continue in their role at the MALL.

Responsibilities
  • Support students during open lab hours

Essential Qualifications
  • Must be an undergraduate student at the University
  • Completion of Calculus I (MATH 165) or an equivalent course
  • Enrolled in at least 1 credit during the academic semester
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of a mathematics course within the last academic year
  • At least one full year of collegiate coursework completed
  • Pursuing a degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Physics, or Engineering
  • Completed courses in subjects such as Set Theory & Logic, Discrete Mathematics, Probability & Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or Finance
