KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
In addition to the fundamental duties associated with the leadership team in Medical Imaging, the Radiology Operations Supervisor role encompasses the following specific responsibilities:
Operational Management:
- Oversees daily activities within the Radiology department
- Acts as a liaison with Radiologists to address quality, safety, and protocol adjustments
- Manages the monthly scheduling for the x-ray division across two imaging facilities for a team of eleven full-time employees
- Reviews PTO requests considering the availability of substitutes to maintain operational volume
- Ensures adequate staffing during periods of shortfall
- Monitors and replenishes supplies for both imaging locations
- Conducts initial investigations and data collection to promptly resolve patient concerns
- Audits billing and charges as necessary, liaising with finance for corrections and new charge code requests
- Addresses equipment issues promptly
- Escalates concerns to the Operations Manager or Director as needed
Team Management:
- Assists the Operations Manager in the recruitment and selection of new radiology staff
- Prepares initial evaluations at 30 and 90 days for new hires, along with annual performance reviews for 19 team members
- Maintains oversight of the Image Quality program, conducting annual evaluations for all technologists performing x-rays, including follow-up training and documentation for quality issues
- Develops training sessions and in-services for radiology personnel
- Utilizes reporting capabilities of Net Learning and iSolved systems to ensure compliance with mandatory training, health requirements, competencies, licensure, and certifications
- Communicates important updates and compliance information to current, new, and per-diem radiology staff
- Collaborates with the Operations Manager to implement corrective action plans for policy violations and provides coaching and documentation for disciplinary actions as necessary.
Regulatory Compliance Duties:
- Maintains equipment logs and schedules preventative and emergency maintenance for eleven imaging devices in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and regulatory requirements.
- Ensures quality control, quality assurance, and departmental policies are maintained in a state of readiness for inspections related to radiology standards.
- Completes biennial regulatory surveys at two x-ray locations in conjunction with the Operations Manager, ensuring no significant citations occur.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Serves as a clinical instructor for radiologic technology programs
- Acts as a super user for PACS systems, CR, C-Arm, Portable, and Fixed digital x-ray
- Serves as the point of contact for system downtimes, possessing a comprehensive understanding of recovery procedures
- Acts as the primary contact for the Medical Imaging Department in the absence of the Director and Operations Manager, escalating issues as appropriate.
Committee Involvement:
- Participates in the Radiation and MRI Safety Committee, providing analysis data and addressing radiation safety issues
- Contributes valuable insights during monthly leadership meetings
- Prepares reports and attends daily huddles in the absence of the Operations Manager or Department Director
- Engages in other meetings or workgroups as assigned by the Operations Manager or Department Director
- Leads by example, adhering to established standards of behavior and performance.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills with all stakeholders, including patients, staff, and providers.
- Shows a keen interest in understanding growth, revenue opportunities, and challenges
- Acts as a champion for performance improvement initiatives within the radiology department and organization
- Engages in and contributes to voluntary activities within the department and organization on an ongoing basis
- Exhibits superior technical quality as evidenced by annual evaluations and ongoing feedback from Radiologists.
- Maintains proficiency and serves as a trainer for specialty exams as needed by the department.
- Provides valuable input regarding staff retention and recruitment strategies
- Contributes insights for new proposals and budgetary considerations
