We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Site Protection Specialist to join our Facilities Operations team at InsideHigherEd. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our campus facilities and occupants.
Key Responsibilities- Perform regular inspections and testing of campus life safety systems, including fire alarms, sprinkler systems, and fire suppression systems.
- Respond to emergency and urgent situations related to life safety, access control, security, and environmental systems.
- Perform repairs and maintenance of campus life safety and security systems, including electrical and mechanical work.
- Work independently and as part of a team to resolve building maintenance problems and emergency repair needs.
- Develop and maintain a broad range of multi-trades skills in areas such as carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, electric, and mechanical trades.
- High school diploma or equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in the construction or industrial maintenance trades.
- Working knowledge of electrical circuits and electrical safe practices.
- Ability to interpret drawings and service manuals for equipment serviced.
- Thorough knowledge of safe work practices and experience in the repair, modification, and installation of electronic systems.
- Ability to work independently on a fixed or rotating shift schedule.
- Computer literacy and ability to become proficient in the Maximo CMMS Software System.
The physical demands of this role include standing or walking for 2-4 hours at a time, operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment, and lifting up to 75 pounds. The successful candidate must be able to work at heights, possess physical agility, and have a full range of motion.
