Position Summary:

The Senior Associate (Audit) is responsible for leading audit engagements. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of GAAP to effectively manage all phases of the audit process utilizing firm-approved methodologies. The Senior Associate will also mentor and oversee the work of junior staff members, ensuring high standards of quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Auditing and Financial Reporting:

  • Plan and execute audit engagements with precision.
  • Engage in thorough planning for each audit assignment.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential issues.
  • Perform analytical reviews to ensure accuracy.
  • Document internal controls and execute tests of those controls.
  • Develop substantive work plans and perform substantive testing while supervising junior staff.
  • Prepare and draft financial statements and other client deliverables.
  • Conduct compilation, review, and preparation engagements.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Effectively communicate recommendations to clients both verbally and in writing.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Identify accounting, business, and tax opportunities, providing insightful solutions.

Administrative Duties:

  • Participate in the recruitment process for new team members.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Adhere to all firm policies and procedures.
  • Accurately track hours worked and assign billing hours to clients.
  • Comply with safety regulations as outlined in the firm’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP).

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is required; an MBA is a plus.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • CPA certification is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license is necessary for client visits.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years of audit experience is required.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong grasp of accounting principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with auditing standards and regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel (including advanced functions), and Caseware.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for teamwork and collaboration.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently while managing tasks efficiently.
