Key Responsibilities:

Intern Duties:
Interns will leverage their educational background and experience to undertake various accounting-related tasks, including:

  • Addressing client and firm associate inquiries promptly, accurately, positively, and professionally
  • Collaborating with clients to gather necessary information for the completion of required documentation
  • Employing data analysis skills to uncover valuable insights and patterns to support recommendations
  • Proactively identifying opportunities for process improvements to enhance operational efficiency

NOTE:
Interns may gain experience in either tax or both tax AND audit

Tax Responsibilities:

  • Prepare individual, business, and fiduciary tax returns and projections in accordance with firm and professional standards as directed by engagement leaders
  • Effectively utilize current tax and accounting software applications
  • Research tax-related issues and other financial reports
  • Conduct a limited number of tax return interviews as necessary

Audit Responsibilities:

  • Execute audit, review, and compliance testing procedures in accordance with firm and professional standards as directed by engagement leaders
  • Communicate with engagement leaders regarding outstanding items, testing challenges, or other significant matters in a timely manner
  • Prepare (or review client-prepared) financial statements and footnotes, management reports, and other engagement outputs
  • Develop technical proficiency with GAAP, particularly related to the assigned product line

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting
Above-average knowledge in accounting as demonstrated by college GPA; Preferred 3.0 GPA or higher

  • Ability to think independently and make sound decisions based on education and experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with clients and staff
  • Capacity to prioritize tasks, follow through on requests, take initiative, and meet deadlines
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis upon hire. Wipfli will not consider candidates for this position who require sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future.
