Ultrasound Technologist Job Description

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our team in Worth, Illinois.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Position patients and select technical factors and equipment to obtain high-quality scans, utilizing immobilization techniques as needed.
  • Deliver patient care and adhere to department standards for quality improvement.
  • Document department records, including supply inventories and patient statistics, to ensure adequate supplies and accurate patient records.
  • Secure pertinent patient history for each procedure to provide the radiologist with necessary information for film interpretation.
  • Comply with established safety standards to ensure patient and staff well-being.
  • Stay up-to-date with current ultrasound skills and developments in the field.
  • Provide instruction and assistance to students or fellow technologists as needed.
Requirements:
  • ARDMS Registry eligibility; successful completion within the first year of employment.
  • Possess high technical knowledge to perform specialized U/S studies with minimal assistance from the radiologist.
  • Able to make diagnostic judgments during scanning and present findings to the radiologist for interpretation.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Ability to adjust to flexible hours and respond to emergency call-backs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, view small CRT screens, and perform lifting activities related to patients.
  • Exposed to radiation and able to operate portable equipment.
  • Ability to communicate with patients and adjust to flexible work hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Participation in the on-call program and availability to department needs with minimal notice.
