Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our team in Worth, Illinois.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to perform ultrasound procedures, position patients, and operate equipment to obtain high-quality scans. The successful candidate will work closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.

Responsibilities:
  • Position patients and select technical factors and equipment to obtain optimal quality scans.
  • Operate portable ultrasound equipment to perform procedures throughout the hospital.
  • Assist physicians with recommendations for obtaining optimal studies.
  • Document department records, including inventory of supplies and patient statistics.
  • Maintain patient records, assemble daily schedules, and prepare patient folders.
  • Prepare ultrasound rooms, ensuring necessary equipment and supplies are available.
  • Operate hospital computer systems as required.
  • Secure pertinent medical history from patients for each procedure.
  • Work closely with radiologists to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Maintain a positive attitude when interacting with patients, colleagues, and other personnel.
  • Comply with established hospital safety standards to ensure patient and staff safety.
  • Maintain annual CPR certification.
  • Operate equipment safely, following hospital and department policies and procedures.
  • Use Universal Precautions to protect self and others from bodily fluid exposure.
  • Stay up-to-date with current skills and developments in the field of ultrasound.
  • Instruct and assist students or fellow technologists orienting in ultrasound.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program and eligible for ARDMS registry.
  • ARDMS Registered or ARDMS registry eligible within 24 months of graduation from an approved sonography program.
  • CPR certification.
Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will be able to adjust to flexible hours, work odd hours, and respond to emergency call-backs. They will also be able to stand for long periods, view video display screens, and perform lifting activities related to patients.

This position requires the ability to recognize needs and behaviors of all age groups, modify approach, and exhibit communication skills necessary to interpret age-specific responses.

Prior experience with various age groups is preferred.

The candidate must be able to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance and use patient handling equipment when necessary.
