Senior Project Manager for Engineering and Operations

PacifiCorp is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead high-risk projects requiring considerable resources and functional integration. The ideal candidate will oversee project planning, execution, control, and closeout processes, assembling project teams, assigning responsibilities, identifying necessary resources, and developing project schedules for timely completion. Key duties include managing project budgets, coordinating team efforts, assigning tasks, and ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards. The successful candidate will also interface with various teams, including end-users, distributors, and vendors, and communicate project status to senior management.

Responsibilities

This position is accountable for all aspects of project management in delivering multiple high-risk large-scale capital projects. Responsibilities include design, financial, permitting, managing multifunctional matrixed project teams, coordinating team efforts, assigning tasks, and ensuring project timelines are met.

Key responsibilities include:

• Manage the planning, design, and construction of multiple large-scale capital projects, such as facility modifications and infrastructure additions, under minimal supervision.

• Establish, track, and control project cost, scope, schedule, and risk to deliver assigned projects within approved scope, budget, and schedule.

• Plan, schedule, and execute all phases of projects in accordance with project management processes, policies, and guidelines, and corporate governance.

• Develop detailed project plans and ensure project scopes, team responsibilities, milestone dates, and procurement strategies are clearly stated for all assigned projects.

• Develop project schedules in accordance with project objectives.

• Coordinate the development of conceptual and detailed designs.

• Develop and execute public involvement plans during project permitting phases.

• Interface with external customers throughout the project life cycle.

• Establish responsibility for and manage physical construction.

• Provide project progress reports to management and other stakeholders in accordance with approved communication plans.

• Provide quality project cost forecasting over project lifecycles.

• Coordinate with procurement to solicit external materials and services as required for project deliverables.

• Manage the bid process and contracts for external engineering and construction services.

• Negotiate with vendors and contractors regarding work scope changes and ensure all contract commitments are completed on time according to scope of work and technical specifications.

• Manage construction management team activities in conjunction with field operations.

• Interface with appropriate management levels, including senior management, to gain necessary approvals and manage risk in accordance with corporate governance.

• Coordinate tracking, expediting, and completion of material and equipment orders.

• Responsible for interdepartmental communication for project teams.

• Responsible for delivery of internal and external project stakeholders' expectations.

• Provide coaching to less experienced project managers, engineers, and other project team members to assist in their career development.
