Job Overview

MHM Services, a Centurion company, is proud to provide mental health services to the California Department of State Hospitals Conditional Release Program (CONREP). We are seeking a full-time Forensic Mental Health Specialist to join our team in Northern California.

About the Role

This position involves conducting interviews and written evaluations for state hospital patients to assess their risk for dangerousness and readiness for outpatient treatment. The successful candidate will also be responsible for collaborating with state hospital staff, completing court reports, responding to subpoenas, and providing court testimony as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct interviews and written evaluations for state hospital patients
  • Assess patient risk for dangerousness and readiness for outpatient treatment
  • Collaborate with state hospital staff to ensure effective patient treatment and discharge
  • Complete court reports and respond to subpoenas as required
  • Provide court testimony as needed
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Social Work or Counseling from an accredited institution
  • Licensed in the state of California as an LCSW or LPCC; other CA licenses may be considered
  • Minimum two years' experience in forensic mental health, including substance abuse counseling
  • Community-based mental health and forensic experience preferred
  • Experience working with trial competency preferred
  • Current tuberculosis screening documentation
  • Ability to pass company and hospital clearance/background checks
  • Valid California driver's license with good driving record and current auto insurance
Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this role is $75,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience. Additionally, we offer comprehensive benefits, including health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance, 401(k) with company match, generous paid time off, paid holidays, flexible spending account, and continuing education benefits.

Work Environment

This is a remote work opportunity with some travel required to Department of State Hospitals at Napa, Coalinga, Atascadero, Metropolitan, and Patton. The successful candidate will need to be able to commute to these locations periodically.
