Daily Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the Clinical Operations Supervisor oversees, coordinates, directs, and assesses the performance of nursing and medical assistant staff at Outer Cape Health Services. As the clinical leader, this role is pivotal in ensuring quality and efficient patient outcomes. The Clinical Operations Supervisor acts as the primary clinical resource for staff and is responsible for fostering an environment that supports patient-centered, team-oriented care. Additionally, this position entails implementing and upholding established OCHS policies and procedures while fulfilling assigned administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Supervising daily nursing operations for nursing and medical assistant staff at the designated clinic, contributing to quality patient outcomes.
  • Collaborating with the Lead Medical Assistant to manage staffing levels, ensuring that schedules are developed, communicated, and adhered to.
  • Coordinating training and orientation for new nursing and medical assistant staff, ensuring documentation is forwarded to Human Resources.
  • Facilitating necessary clinical training, including CLIA and OSHA compliance.
  • Working with provider leadership and the Health Center Director to address and resolve conflicts.
  • Serving as a mentor and resource for team members to enhance overall performance and patient satisfaction.
  • Monitoring patient experience ratings and feedback, collaborating with providers and the Health Center Director to address concerns.
  • Collaborating with others to develop and refine effective workflows and procedures, ensuring ongoing communication and improvement.
  • Encouraging and facilitating on-site process improvements with frontline staff.
  • Identifying and implementing opportunities for revenue enhancement and cost reduction to optimize financial performance.
  • Scheduling and leading regular meetings for nursing and medical assistant staff.
  • Coordinating the procurement of clinical supplies and maintaining necessary documentation to minimize waste.
  • Acting as the Vaccine Coordinator, ensuring staff are educated and compliant with immunization schedules.
  • Managing vaccine and medication inventory, conducting monthly assessments.
  • Completing performance evaluations for nursing and medical assistant staff, providing both formal reviews and informal coaching.
  • Collaborating with the Director of Nursing to develop performance improvement plans and participate in disciplinary processes.
  • Participating in assigned committees, ensuring regular attendance and completion of committee responsibilities.
  • Assisting with data collection, reporting, and adherence to quality standards.
  • Administering consistent and fair discipline to staff, holding them accountable for compliance with OCHS policies.
  • Ensuring annual competency assessments for nursing and medical assistant staff are completed and documented.
  • Modeling and supporting the principles of patient-centered, team-based care.
  • Assessing designated clinical competencies upon hire and annually, which may include various nursing procedures.
  • Collaborating with healthcare providers and team members to deliver quality patient care.
  • Administering medications, performing nursing procedures, and providing patient education as required.
  • Conducting nursing visits and triage assessments.
  • Coordinating care and providing support to patients and their families.
  • Participating in urgent care and hospital transfer processes as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Master's degree preferred.
  • Current RN license from the Massachusetts State Board of Registration.
  • BLS certification required.
  • A minimum of four years of professional nursing experience, preferably in a hospital, clinic, or ambulatory primary care setting.
  • At least three years of nursing supervisory experience.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Outlook and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated capacity to make independent decisions and manage staff in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work effectively both as a team member and independently.
  • Experience in a culturally diverse and inclusive setting.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and adjust priorities as needed.
  • Reliable transportation for travel to various sites and events.
