About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Technical Specialist to join our team at Inova Central Lab. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality of specimens for laboratory testing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure quality specimens for laboratory testing by recognizing pre-analytical factors that adversely affect patient results.
  • Operate systems/methodologies to produce timely and accurate data for patients, quality control, and proficiency testing.
  • Report clinical data accurately and efficiently.
  • Participate in departmental development by demonstrating operational knowledge and adhering to regulatory standards.
  • Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with team members to optimize job performance and foster working relationships.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college/university, including biological science, chemistry, and mathematics courses.
  • 3 years of experience in an accredited laboratory under the supervision of a pathologist certified by the American Board of Pathology.
  • Preferred experience: Previous experience performing, implementing, and troubleshooting culture and molecular (qualitative and quantitative) based infectious disease testing.
  • ASCP Certification consistent with the scope of responsibility (MLS/MT, MLT, HT, HTL, BB, C, H, M, CT) or American Medical Technologists (AMT) or Laboratory Technologist Certification (HEW).
