Job Title: Field Service Engineer – Port Solutions

General Overview:
As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering Technical Advisory Services (TAS) to facilitate the installation and commissioning of various projects, ensuring adherence to project timelines and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Commission both AC and DC drive systems, along with control software, to fulfill design performance specifications.
  • Optimize equipment performance by tuning closed-loop regulators to meet established design parameters.
  • Develop, validate, and implement algorithms that govern the electromechanical functions of industrial and port machinery, focusing primarily on port crane systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues within complex control systems.
  • Design, configure, and test system software and hardware to comply with contractual obligations.
  • Collect relevant information from authorized sources to evaluate project requirements in relation to the assigned scope of work.
  • Provide timely and accurate commissioning status updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Lead the client witness system acceptance testing process when designated.
  • Propose enhancements to commissioning procedures to boost system performance.
  • Suggest software or hardware upgrades to the engineering team.
  • Maintain current safety certifications pertinent to assigned tasks and comply with both company and client safety protocols.
  • Mentor colleagues in specific technical areas as identified by management.
  • Educate client personnel on system maintenance and operational procedures to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
  • Plan and manage special projects lasting up to nine months to support departmental objectives when assigned.

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering with control automation coursework, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Two years of experience in process and automation controls.
  • Two years of field engineering experience or relevant experience in the metals, port solutions, paper, or general industries.
  • Proven ability to establish successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills.
  • Continuous improvement mindset in areas of responsibility.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Access.
  • Ability to work at heights of up to approximately 175 feet.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally over 75% of the time, sometimes with limited notice.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Over three years of experience servicing a variety of port equipment, including overhead traveling cranes and components.
  • Experience in installing, inspecting, and maintaining lifting equipment according to relevant operational and installation guidelines.
  • Experience working with international clients and in field service roles.
  • Experience in international field engineering.
  • Experience in the metals, port solutions, paper, or general industries.
  • Proficiency in Oracle ERP.
  • Proficiency in MS Projects.
