Sterile Processing Technician Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician to join our team at VCU Health. As a Sterile Processing Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of patient care by preparing and sterilizing medical instruments and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Decontaminate and sterilize medical instruments and equipment according to established protocols
  • Maintain inventory and par levels of instruments and supplies
  • Assemble and prepare instrument sets and case carts
  • Follow OSHA and TJC guidelines for infection control and safety
Requirements:
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) certification preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous work experience as a Sterile Processing Technician or healthcare-related position preferred
Working Conditions:

This position requires prolonged standing, frequent bending, and walking. The ability to lift 20-50 pounds is also required. The work environment is noisy, and the ability to adapt to frequent change is essential.
