Survey Assistant and Quality Control Job Description

The Survey Assistant and Quality Control role is a critical position within our team at A. O. Hardee and Son Inc. As a Survey Assistant and Quality Control, you will work closely with our Site Surveyor to ensure accurate measurements, documentation, and quality checks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Site Surveyor in daily tasks such as setting up and operating surveying instruments, taking measurements, and recording data.
  • Utilize camera systems to inspect and evaluate storm drain installations, ensuring they meet engineering specifications and quality standards.
  • Collect and process field data, ensuring accuracy and consistency, and prepare reports.
  • Assist in staking and marking construction site boundaries, elevations, and other key points based on project specifications.
  • Work closely with engineers, project managers, and other construction personnel to provide critical information for site development.
  • Ensure all surveying instruments, drones, and associated equipment are properly maintained and calibrated.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols while working on-site, ensuring the safe operation of drones, equipment, and following guidelines for hazardous areas.
  • Operate drones to perform topographical surveys of construction sites, capturing aerial imagery and data for mapping and site planning.
  • Research job sites and pull land data from various sources, presenting information to the Surveyor and management as needed for new jobs.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a surveying role or civil construction layout is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with drone technology and experience operating drones for surveying purposes is advantageous, but not required.
  • Certification in drone operation is a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new skills and technology is critical.
  • Basic knowledge of surveying tools and equipment.
  • AutoCAD experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of GIS (Geographic Information Systems), specifically Trimble Business Center, is a plus but not required.
  • Experience with Trimble GPS machine control equipment is a plus, but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail and precision in performing measurements, quality inspections, and data recording.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, stand for long periods, and carry equipment across rough terrain.
  • Basic mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to listen to and accurately follow directives from the Surveyor.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Willingness to travel to various construction sites as needed.

Compensation: 18-30 Hourly Wage
