Job Overview - Project Engineer

NOTE: This role is tailored for a general contractor with expertise in construction management; experience in managing water/wastewater treatment facilities or industrial construction is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities of a Project Engineer:

Support Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, and other team members in overseeing, scheduling, and procurement for various construction initiatives.

Core Duties Include:

  • Comprehend, uphold, and comply with Crowder's safety protocols; monitor and rectify violations as they occur on-site.
  • Strategically plan work and procure materials with a focus on safety.
  • Assist the Project Manager with daily operational tasks.
  • Facilitate the procurement, approval, and timely delivery of materials to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Prepare and monitor all essential submittals.
  • Acquire necessary material certifications.
  • Support the Project Manager in preparing material billing.
  • Order required materials and supplies.
  • Maintain project documentation, current drawings, and production records.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of all documentation and records needed for change orders.
  • Help analyze costs associated with additional work.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager for overall project coordination, including subcontractor management. Approve incoming invoices.
  • Enhance cash flow management.
  • Establish and nurture positive relationships with subcontractors.
  • Identify, pursue, and secure fair compensation for any changes in project scope.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or 5 years of equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in software applications such as AutoCAD, MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Windows, Primavera Project Planner, COINS, etc.
  • Experience in project planning, scheduling, and estimating.
  • Ability to draft subcontractor scopes of work.
  • Familiarity with pricing, procurement, and the preparation of purchase orders for materials and equipment.
  • Capable of reading and interpreting technical drawings.
