Job Summary

The State of Kansas is seeking a highly skilled Fire Protection Specialist to join our team. As a Fire Protection Specialist, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to fire protection, including fire suppression, rescue operations, and emergency response.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform fire suppression and rescue operations at emergency scenes
  • Operate fire trucks and other emergency vehicles
  • Conduct inspections and maintenance on fire equipment and vehicles
  • Participate in physical fitness activities and training exercises
  • Perform administrative tasks, such as maintaining records and reports

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • National Certification as a Fire Fighter I and II
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • EMT certification
  • Airport Fire Fighter certification
  • Driver/Operator ARFF certification
  • Driver/Operator Pumper certification
  • Driver/Operator Tender certification

Working Conditions

The Fire Protection Specialist will work in a fast-paced emergency response environment, often in hazardous conditions. The position requires the ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme temperatures.
