Family Therapist

The ideal candidate will be a licensed marriage and family therapist with a minimum of 2 years of experience, currently licensed by the New York State Education Department.
Responsibilities include conducting family assessments, providing family psycho-education and CBT, engaging the client's family and support network in the treatment and recovery process, and providing individual family therapy and conducting family interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develops and oversees family programming for maximizing opportunities for participants.
- Provides services consistent with guiding principles of Agency's philosophy of strength based, family focused, needs driven and culturally competent care.
- Collaboratively formulates and implements an overall comprehensive care plan for each family.
- Engages with families in a manner that respects ethnic and cultural practices, customs, and differences.
- Acts as a liaison to facilitate and support communication between participants and family members.
- Provides psycho-education to participants and their natural supports.
- Connects participants and their family members with supports in the community and provides follow-up support to encourage successful community integration.
- Develops a personalized wellness plan with the participant.
Requirements:
- Master's Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or Family Therapy Counseling.
- At least one experience working in a community-based setting with adolescents and/or adults experiencing a co-occurring Substance Use Disorder and Mental Illness.
- Extensive knowledge of harm reduction and a commitment to providing services to individuals in various stages of their recovery.
- In-depth knowledge of NYC's diverse network of medical and behavioral health care organizations, including substance use disorders, treatment services, education, and employment services, and non-traditional community support groups.
Preferred Qualifications:
- General understanding of Family Systems and familiarity working with diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
- Competency in written, interpersonal, verbal, and computational skills to present and document records in accordance with program standards.
- Knowledgeable about federal, state, and local law and regulation governing substance abuse treatment programs.
