Job Summary

Stanford American International Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Chief Compliance Officer to oversee its comprehensive hospital and clinical compliance program. The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of HIPAA and other applicable privacy laws and regulations, as well as experience in establishing and ensuring compliance with privacy policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the compliance and privacy program, reviewing it periodically to ensure its overall effectiveness.
  • Lead and manage the organizational compliance program, developing and implementing written policies, procedures, and standards of conduct related to compliance.
  • Steward compliance committees comprised of senior leaders, developing effective lines of communication regarding compliance and receiving complaints and providing information regarding compliance matters.
  • Enforce standards through disciplinary guidelines, developing policies addressing dealings with sanctioned individuals.
  • Oversee compliance, auditing, and training matters relating to appropriate professional and facility fees billing, consulting closely with administration representatives, various departments, and billing personnel to foster and enhance compliance with all applicable compliance requirements.
  • Support and oversee the leadership of the program for compliance with patient privacy regulations, including HIPAA, presenting reports to the ACERs of the Boards of Directors and making recommendations regarding changes to improve the compliance program.
  • Design and conduct internal monitoring and independent assessments to detect violations of compliance and privacy laws and regulations, leading and participating in risk assessment processes, responding to detected violations, determining the order and frequency of assessments, and developing corrective action plans.
  • Develop and maintain the Code of Conduct and compliance standards and policies, overseeing investigative work regarding information reported on matters of alleged non-compliance, providing guidance to CEOs, hospitals, and clinics regarding compliance matters, and collaborating with the Stanford Chief Risk Officer related to risk oversight and administrative coordination.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university; JD preferred.
  • Ten years of directly related work experience in healthcare compliance, privacy, billing integrity, and administrative experience, preferably in an academic medical center of similar size and complexity.
  • Substantial experience addressing matters concerning professional fee billing, facility fee billing, and clinical trial billing.
