Junior Project Engineer I

At American States Utility Services, we are seeking a highly skilled Junior Project Engineer I to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of assignments within a framework of established procedures, including typing, filing, and records management.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent, and at least two years of related experience. They will also possess strong leadership skills, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to handle confidential or sensitive information.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepares and reviews preliminary and final design plans, engineering reports, permit documents, standard details, specifications, and other documents required to complete the design phase of capital projects and prepare projects for construction.
- Files documents, maintains computerized and manual records, and compiles data for general information purposes and individual requests for special reports.
- Compares, processes, or maintains a variety of reports and documents.
- Aids in preparation of cost quote estimates for military base construction projects.
- Assists in ensuring adherence with policies to maintain local, state, and federal regulatory compliance.
- Identifies and aids in developing process improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness of current activities.
- Assists in preparation of internal and external audit activities as required.
- Provides technical expertise to staff and other team members related to, and not limited to, regulatory and engineering matters.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
- At least two years of related experience.
- Engineer In Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain certification within one year of position entry.
- One year or more of AutoCAD experience in general civil design or in public utilities design strongly preferred.
- AutoCAD Civil 3D knowledge and experience preferred.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License issued by the state where employed.
- Must take and pass Federal OSHA and or State Mandated Safety training with annual refresher courses as required by the associated regulations for this position.
