Genetic Counselor

We are seeking a highly skilled Genetic Counselor to join our team at the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute in Lancaster County, PA. As a Genetic Counselor, you will specialize in oncology genetics and provide expert guidance to high-risk patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities- Provide genetic counseling to high-risk patients and their families, investigating family history and interpreting genetic disorders.
- Coordinate genetic counseling, genetic testing, and genetic testing results visits, utilizing available risk management models and decision trees.
- Collaborate with the medical team to develop recommendations for patients and their family members regarding screening and management of risks.
- Communicate with physicians and/or nurse practitioners to assess appropriate genetic testing and cancer screening and management.
- Prepare and maintain clinical documentation records, respecting confidentiality and privacy of patients.
- Serve as an educational resource on genetics and genetic counseling, maintaining a database of patients seen and statistical information.
- Participate in clinic visits, conferences, and boards as appropriate, based on specified area of focus (i.e., Oncology, Obstetrics).
- Master's degree in Genetics or Genetic Counseling.
- Genetic Counselor License issued by the PA State Board of Medicine or temporary permit issued by the PA State Board of Medicine within 8 weeks of hire, and permanent licensure within one year of employment.
- Certification by the American Board of Genetic Counselors (ABGC) within one year of employment.
