Job Summary

This is a full-time position for a certified, master's-prepared genetic counselor to work with oncology patients and their families at the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute on the Lancaster General Health campus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide genetic counseling to high-risk patients and their families under general supervision.
  • Investigate family history, interpret genetic disorders, and explain risks to patients.
  • Coordinate genetic counseling, testing, and testing results visits.
  • Collaborate with the medical team to develop recommendations for patients and their family members.
  • Communicate with physicians and/or nurse practitioners to assess genetic testing and cancer screening.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Genetics or Genetic Counseling.
  • Genetic Counselor License issued by the PA State Board of Medicine or temporary permit within 8 weeks of hire.
  • Certification by the American Board of Genetic Counselors (ABGC) within one year of employment.
