Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Operations Manager to join our team at Oak View Group. This is a key leadership role that will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our convention center, ensuring that all events and activities run smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and review the work plan for convention center operations, including meeting with staff to identify and resolve problems, assigning work activities, projects, and programs, and monitoring workflow.
  • Oversee the daily operation and maintenance of the facility and all systems, including HVAC, sound, lighting, fire protection, life safety, workplace safety, communications, and message boards.
  • Work closely with the Events Department to advance and communicate event information to the appropriate departments and staff.
  • Develop pre-event department expense estimates for the Events, Finance, and Executive departments.
  • Oversee custodial services for the entire facility, including daily cleaning, pre-event, event, and post-event cleaning.
  • Manage the administration of in-house set-up and other labor groups.
  • Oversee the operation of event set-up and tear-down, including power needs, stage risers, chairs, signs, and other equipment.
  • Assist in negotiation and administration of contracts with outside vendors, including pest control, elevator and escalator companies, seasonal landscaping, and other services.
  • Oversee scheduling of operations managers, changeover supervisors, and other staff.
  • Participate in the development and administration of the Operations Department budget, including forecasting future funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies, monitoring and approving expenditures, and implementing adjustments as necessary.
  • Order supplies and materials for building supplies and maintenance within budget guidelines.
  • Act as a liaison with City and State Services for numerous facility-related functions, including City Codes, Fire Safety Codes, Parking, Licenses, permits, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for Health & Safety compliance.
  • Represent the Operations Department in the absence of the Director of Operations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Technical Degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in Facility Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4-6 years of experience in facility operations management in a similar supervisory role.
  • Staff management experience required.
  • Industry experience (Convention Center, Hotel, Public Assembly Facility) is preferred and may be substituted for educational experience.
  • Prior experience with major renovation or expansion projects is a plus.
