Job Summary

The primary role of the Mechanic is to repair, maintain, and troubleshoot critical pieces of rotating equipment. The position requires an extensive working knowledge of how to disassemble and reassemble centrifugal gas compressors, generators, centrifugal pumps, gearboxes, HVAC units, Fin Fans, and all other auxiliary equipment associated with rotating equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform millwright-related work on rotating equipment such as pumps, turbines, compressors, gearboxes, etc.
  • Extensive working knowledge of compressors, pumps, gearboxes, and generators, filters, tanks, piping, etc.
  • Work in the field performing repairs or troubleshooting alone or with others on gas turbines, pumps, gearboxes, compressors, or generators.
  • Dismantle, assemble, move, and align machinery and equipment using hoists, cranes, chain falls, hand tools, power tools, pneumatic and hydraulic tools, micrometers, rules, squares, plumb bobs, dial indicators, and/or laser alignment equipment.
  • Read blueprints, schematic drawings, and technical documentation to determine proper work procedures.
  • Perform material and machine inspections using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, rules, calipers, protractors, and torque wrenches.
  • Determine equipment specifications and prepare parts lists for purchasing, consisting of mechanical and hydraulic devices as needed to complete assigned projects.
  • Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies and perform mechanical repairs as needed.
  • Install machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings in industrial establishments.
  • Possess a high degree of attention to detail required to prevent injury to self and others.
  • Assure quality of work and promote continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect corporate assets, including intellectual property, by keeping information confidential.
  • Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.
  • Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3 years maintenance experience in the oil and gas industry required.
  • Valid state motor vehicle license to operate mobile equipment to move machinery.
  • Able to work a 12-hour day/night shift with a 2/2 weeks on/off rotational schedule on the North Slope of Alaska.
