Our Mars Hill facility is one of the largest food manufacturing organizations in Aroostook County, employing over 200 dedicated team members who work together to deliver exceptional potato products to our customers.

Position Summary

This role is responsible for performing advanced mechanical maintenance services to support the plant facility.

You will take a proactive approach to prevent repairs, install, replace, and troubleshoot complex mechanical equipment and distribution systems with minimal supervision.

You will use hand tools and testing instruments, dismantle machinery, and replace defective electrical or mechanical parts, ensuring all work is performed in accordance with established safety procedures.

You will inspect completed work to ensure conformance with local building and safety codes.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on complex mechanical equipment and distribution systems.
  • Fabricate and assemble equipment, which may involve welding, cutting, and pipe fitting.
  • Perform emergency repairs on process equipment.
  • Inspect facility equipment daily, performing various production startup and coverage tasks.
  • Troubleshoot repairs to PLC, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, or hydraulic components.
  • Use prints, specifications, and verbal instructions to make repairs to ordinary plumbing and electrical systems, install and thread pipe, perform soldering and cutting.
  • Assist in the installation of equipment.
  • Clean and lubricate parts, equipment, and machinery.
  • Follow all SQF principles pertinent to your position, as specified by the SQF Practitioner.
  • Participate in and adhere to all HazMat, Confined Space, and LOTO trainings.
  • Report all food safety and human safety concerns to appropriate personnel, such as the QA technician, Safety Manager, FSQ Manager, etc.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of three or more years of industrial equipment experience required.
Physical Demands

This position requires sitting and climbing or balancing under 1/3 of the time.

Walking and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling 1/3 to 2/3 of the time, and standing, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, and talking or hearing over 2/3 of the time.

Lifting weights ranging from 10 to more than 100 pounds under 1/3 of the time.

Work Environment

This position will be exposed to work in high, precarious places, and outdoor weather conditions under 1/3 of the time.

Working near moving mechanical parts over 2/3 of the time.

Typical noise level is loud, with examples including metal can manufacture department and large earth-moving equipment.

This position has been identified as having the potential for exposure to blood-borne pathogens (BBPs).
