Position Summary:

The Electrical Foreman plays a crucial role in overseeing and directing the crew on-site, which includes apprentices, helpers, and journey-workers. This position involves the assembly, installation, maintenance, and testing of electrical systems and equipment in compliance with industry standards and project specifications. The Electrical Foreman is tasked with ensuring that the project timeline is adhered to by effectively managing resources, materials, and personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily guidance and communication to team members, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary tools and materials while adhering to safety protocols and project specifications.
  • Conduct daily briefings to outline upcoming tasks and objectives.
  • Maintain accurate logs and documentation for the assigned area, collaborating with supervisors as needed.
  • Motivate and coach team members to foster a productive work environment, ensuring high-quality performance.
  • Oversee specific segments of larger projects, including electrical layouts, fire alarm systems, and site lighting.
  • Participate in project meetings and document key points for reference.
  • Plan ahead to ensure materials and resources are available, maintaining a proactive approach to project management.
  • Work closely with supervisors to create and maintain a detailed project schedule.
  • Prioritize tasks based on project requirements and client needs.
  • Update and maintain accurate project documentation, including as-built drawings and schedules.
  • Ensure quality control and productivity, holding the team accountable for safe and efficient work practices.
  • Develop punch lists for the crew and follow up on their completion.
  • Communicate project goals clearly to all team members.
  • Coordinate with other trades involved in the project to ensure seamless operations.
  • Set a standard for quality work by leading by example.
  • Enforce safety standards and promote a culture of safety on-site.
  • Orient new employees regarding safety protocols and project scope.
  • Clearly define roles and expectations for team members to ensure clarity in responsibilities.
  • Supervise and participate in hands-on installation tasks as necessary, providing training to apprentices and journeymen.
  • Inspect work to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
  • Assist apprentices with their training documentation and progress.
  • Adhere to project specifications and contractual obligations.
  • Utilize electrical formulas for project planning and execution.
  • Organize tasks for team members to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the work area.
  • Stay updated on industry advancements and codes for continuous professional development.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial electrical work is preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a leadership role is preferred.
  • Technical training in electrical systems or industrial maintenance is advantageous.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools, as well as reading technical drawings and specifications.
  • Experience in electrical installation, testing, and maintenance is essential.

Supervisory Role:

This position involves supervising apprentices, helpers, and journey-workers, including training, scheduling, and evaluating performance.
