Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Design Engineer to join our team at Wenger Corporation. As a key member of our product development team, you will be responsible for managing and facilitating major new product development, product improvement, and cost reduction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and facilitate major new product development, product improvement, and cost reduction projects
  • Provide effective leadership to multifunctional project teams to help accomplish project goals and stimulate team growth
  • Conduct engineering analysis with respect to strength calculations, design layout, fits and tolerances, and solid modeling
  • Conduct Design Reviews, Drawing Reviews, DFMEA's, DFM, and Design Validation as part of new product development
  • Conduct accelerated product life cycle tests, evaluating field testing and potential misuse of all products to provide a long and safe service life for the end user
  • Provide complete and well-documented product specifications, working closely with Engineering Services, Manufacturing Engineer, Marketing Manager, Unit Manager, Industrial Engineer, Planner, and Quality Control
  • Provide support for development of new manufacturing processes
  • Provide support for Project Engineering with product information and documentation requirements for new products and technical support for product customizations
  • Prepare recommendations with supporting logic for product changes that will improve sales potential and/or reduce cost
  • Provide technical writing support and editing of service manuals, assembly, and operating instructions
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Agricultural Engineering
  • Five (5) years of progressive product engineering experience
  • Proficiency with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software including solid modeling
  • Knowledge of the basic materials and processes used in industry with emphasis on new technology developments
  • SolidWorks experience
  • Proficiency with finite element analysis (FEA) software and stress calculations
  • Ability to conceptualize, formulate design possibilities and coordinate development by the project team under time and financial constraints
  • Commitment to effective project leadership, coordination, and evaluation, with recommendations for changes required to improve overall results
