Job Summary:

The City of Owatonna, MN is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Civil Engineer Assistant to join our Engineering Department. As a key member of our team, you will assist in the overall planning, direction, and operation of the department, including the planning, design, and construction of public works projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in directing the activities of the Engineering Department
• Perform highly responsible engineering work of an administrative and technical nature
• Work with other city departments, outside agencies, and citizens regarding engineering, construction, and related activities
• Supervise staff, including prioritizing and assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, and ensuring staff are trained
• Develop engineering division goals and strategies, ensuring alignment with department (or City) strategies
• Manage daily operations to ensure alignment with division goals and strategies

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field
• 5 years civil engineering or related experience, including 2 years supervisory experience
• Professional Civil Engineer Registration in the state of Minnesota within 6 months of hire
