Assistant Controller Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Controller to join our team at Jobot. As a key member of our financial operations, you will be responsible for managing our financial processes, leading a team of accounting professionals, and driving the enhancement of our ERP system, Yardi.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and mentor a team of 5 to 8 accounting professionals to ensure high performance and effective collaboration.
  • Lead the ongoing enhancement of the Yardi ERP system to optimize financial workflows and reporting capabilities.
  • Spearhead a company-wide initiative to standardize month-end close processes, financial statement preparation, and the management of all financial books to improve accuracy, efficiency, and consistency.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of accurate and timely financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline accounting operations, reduce errors, and enhance the overall efficiency of the finance department.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial transactions and reporting to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
  • Support the Controller in the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insights and analysis to drive sound financial decision-making.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support overall company goals and objectives, ensuring alignment between financial processes and business needs.
  • Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for the accounting team to enhance their skills and ensure they are up-to-date with industry best practices.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2-3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong proficiency with Yardi ERP system, including experience in system enhancement and optimization.
  • Proven experience in standardizing financial processes, particularly around month-end close and financial reporting.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop a high-performing team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments and at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
