Job Summary:

Terra Community College is seeking a qualified Adjunct Faculty member to teach in-person daytime courses. The successful candidate will engage students in the teaching/learning process, work assigned schedules, and participate in college committee work. This is an in-person assignment, and remote opportunities are not available.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver courses that meet the current curriculum goals and objectives.
  • Remain current with subject matter and instructional methodologies.
  • Maintain posted office hours in accordance with departmental and college policies.
  • Employ appropriate assessment techniques to measure student performance in achieving course goals and objectives.
  • Communicate progress in the course to students in a timely manner.
  • Determine and submit students' grades in accordance with established college policies and procedures.
  • Support the mission of the program, division, and college.
Requirements:
  • A Master's Degree in Sociology is required, with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in sociology.
  • A minimum of two years of teaching experience is required, preferably at a college level.
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
  • Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency in word-processing and presentation software, internet, and email.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of students.
  • Capability to teach in more than one discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to advise students.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work a combination of days/evening/weekend schedules.
Work Environment:

The work environment is typically moderate, with occasional moderate noise levels. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
